China - Rod puppet with animated eyes. Dates frin 1930¹s based on older traditional style. From collection of Marjorie Batchelder McPharlin author of Puppets in America since 1948.

Taiwan -Hand puppet with rods on hands. Wild Demon character with large head in proportion to body. Bright color of hair denotes post war style of 1960¹s. Lots of variety in Taiwanese puppets. Note mirrors embroidered into costume.
U.S.A. - Gremlin marionettes on one control by William Duncan and Edward Mabley of the Tatterman Marionettes used the 1939 G.E. production, ³Mrs. Cinderella²at the Worlds Fair.
Grandmother hand puppet is by Lewis Mahlmann/John Gilkerson.
U.S.A. - Marionette by Harry Burnett, Yale Puppeteers 1930's-40's from "Friday" from the production "My Man Friday" performed on Olvera Street in Los Angeles.
France - Guignol from the collection of Lea Wallace. Good example of the character ³Guignol² worn and obviously well used.
India - Three string marionette elephant fromRajastani for outstide performances.
U.S.A. - Eagle marionette for the Tatterman production of "The Lightning" .
Spain - Hand puppet of a bull. A commercial puppet designed by a famous maker.
German - Toy hand puppet with carved wooden head. A simpler version of a traditional, more elaborate carved wood style. A wizard or magician from 1940's-60's.
U.S.A. - Popeye hand puppet designed and operated by George ³Pinkey² Larsen in the 1940¹s. He is missing a pipe. Larsen built trick marionettes and vent dummies for sale.
