Summer 2003

A Bear Named Violet

Edith Hartnett worked with Robert LeRoy Smith in the Bay Area as Parnassus Puppets. He made the teddy bear for Edith. Robert's puppets are at a museum run by the St. Louis Guild.

Violet appeared at many puppet fairs at Fairland in Oakland. Edith is 82 and needs to sell "Violet". She would like her to be a "greeter" at COPA. The puppet was given by an anonymous donor who felt she should remain on the West Coast.

Snow White Marionettes - Recent acquisitions (besides Violet). Ellie and Les Heath performed as the Lesselli Marionettes in California, especially Northern California. Alan saw them at Robinson's in downtown Los Angeles and the L.A. County Fair. They were active in the 40's and 50's. These marionettes are from their production of Snow White.
