We asking you all if you have any information on the background information on this Hitler puppet. We agreed not to give out any personal information like the names of the previous owners or their address. This is what we do know. The puppet was bought at an estate sale in Oakland, California. The previous owners were two very old men (in their 90's) that were gay. One of them was very talented artistically. More...

 

(Hitler puppet contnued...) One of the men is deceased the other is in a rest home and he has Alzheimer's. They were both very intelligent individuals. The puppet was found in an unused (for many-many years) bedroom closet buried in the back. There were two female puppet heads also found at the same time, in the same location. Major Snorter -Harry Burnett Pie Eyed Piper Turnabout First performed on Olvera Street then at Turnabout Theater on La Cienega many puppets rebuilt and refurbished as they became worn with use.
Juggler Marionette from Taming of the Shrew by the Tatterman Marionettes probably late 20's-early 30's. Worked in Detroit and Cleveland area. Went on to do department store shows, some in the store windows.
King - WPA 1935, Pennsylvania. Made in multiple sets to be used educationally for museums and schools
Pinocchio -Toy marionette by Bob Baker. Currently in production. sold through Bob Baker and other vendors. Baker has designed many toy marionettes as well as puppets for his own productions, movies and commercials. Longest running puppet theater in Southern California.
Wizard - toy marionette made by the Bozart Co. 2000, designed by sculptor Samuel Oates Part of a well designed set that includes a dragon, a unicorn, a princess, a night, a jester and a raven.
Rogers Barnes Fairy Godmother - late 1960's-early 70's. Show unidentified. Worked for company theatre, L.A. worked with Croft show, Las Vegas, one of 12 puppeteers. Started career as a dancer. Made some of the puppets and worked on Dusty's Tree House with Tony Urbano.

Lady on a Horse - trick marionette by Stan Kramer. Mid 1960'2. Solo puppeteer in the Los Angeles area traveled across the country night clubs, etc. Head puppeteer at one point for Sid and Marty Krofft Poupees de Paris. Later did his own Poupees Joly.

 

Rocking Horse - Bil Baird Used in presentation having to do with toys. Worked with Tony Sarg, including the Macy's parade. Most prominent national puppeteer predating Jim Henson. Noteworthy for the puppets in the "Sound of Music". Worked on and off Broadway Did many commercials princess and a jester and a raven.
German - Toy hand puppet with carved wooden head. A simpler version of a traditional, more elaborate carved wood style. A wizard or magician from 1940's-60's.
